ALLEN PARK — Auditions will be held this next weekend by Creative Characters Youth Theater in conjunction with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department for “Are We There Yet?” by Stephen Murray.
Students 5 to 15 years old are eligible to audition for the production, which producers call a musical revue with momentum. Through songs and vignettes it explores travel and transportation.
The show spoofs mankind’s quest to get from one place to another, whether by walking, riding, on wings or by water.
Auditions will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Allen Park Community Center, 15800 White. Participants should plan to stay for one entire session.
Those auditioning are asked to come prepared with a short song to sing, willingness to learn some dance moves and participate in readings. A copy of the script is available for review at the Allen Park Library, 8100 Allen Road.
Rehearsals will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturdays starting Jan. 31 at the Community Center. The parent meeting will take place 2 to 3 p.m. Jan. 31.
Tech week will take place 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 22 through the 25 at the Allen Park Auditorium, 16850 Southfield.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. June 26 and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. June 27 at the auditorium.
Fees of $35 will be due Jan. 31 and Feb. 14, totaling $70, with an additional $5 fee for nonresidents.
