‘Extravaganza’ will keep students busy during winter break

January 30, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — Sixty students on their winter break from school can take part in a Holiday Extravaganza from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 16 through 20 at the Heritage Park Activity Building.

The annual weeklong program provided by the city’s Department of Golf, Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of activities for children in the second through sixth grades.

Participants can explore the history of holidays celebrated in America, including Presidents Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and Halloween, plus each child’s birthday. The week includes field trips to the Henry Ford Museum, an indoor water park, the Parade Co. and the movies.

Organizers say the week also will be filled with recreational activities, arts and crafts and much more.

Program registration begins tomorrow at the Golf, Parks and Recreation offices, 22805 Goddard Road. The registration fee is $65 per child, although discounts are available for multiple family members. Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
