DEARBORN — Lt. Gov. John Cherry Jr. will be the keynote speaker at the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce Economic Outlook Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Dearborn Inn.

“We are thrilled to host Lt. Gov. Cherry and feel that he will be an significant asset to this event and provide valuable information to the attendees,” said Chamber President Jennifer Knott Giering.

Cherry has led the Lt. Governor’s Commission on Higher Education & Economic Growth, making a series of recommendations that have brought higher education into the larger discussion of creating and retaining jobs in Michigan. He also serves as a gubernatorial appointee to the Midwest Higher Education Compact. It has been speculated that he will run for the state’s top job next year.

As a legislator, Cherry authored and co-sponsored several Michigan laws dealing with workers’ rights, environmental protection and conservation.

The Economic Outlook Breakfast is the first of four such events planned for the year. Individual tickets and corporate tables are available by going to the Web site www.dearbornchamber.org.
