TRENTON — Police still are investigating the death of James York Lezotte, 23, of Trenton, whose body was found behind a local restaurant about 2:45 p.m. Feb. 13.
“It appears to us that there was absolutely no foul play involved,” detective Lt. Robert Smith said. “It appears to be a natural or accidental death.”
Three employees of a tree trimming service had pulled into Boston Market, 3555 West Road near Grange, to use the restroom, he said, and one was disposing of trash from the truck in a receptacle in the lot south of CVS/pharmacy, 3575 West, when he found Lezotte’s body. The receptacle is encased by a concrete cinder block wall 8 to 10 feet high.
The men were “a little shaken” but stayed at the scene and gave a statement, Smith said, adding that Lezotte apparently died just a few hours before being found.
The investigation remains open pending medical examiner and toxicology reports, which he said can take anywhere between three and nine months. Police tagged some items found at the scene as evidence and still are trying to determine whether they are Lezotte s personal belongings.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Martenson Funeral Home Trenton Chapel.
