ALLEN PARK — The Wayne County Department of Environment will hold a household hazardous waste collection from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 28 at City Hall, 16850 Southfield.
Examples of accepted items are household paints, stains and dyes, floor wax, floor care products, carpet cleaners, furniture polish, bathroom cleaners, stain removers and solvents.
Pharmaceutical waste that is not a controlled substance will be accepted, along with nail polish; fertilizer; lawn and garden chemicals; pesticides; antifreeze; motor oil; gasoline; automotive and dry cell batteries; fluorescent bulbs; fire extinguishers; smoke detectors; and mercury thermometers.
Electronics also will be accepted, including computer central processing units, monitors, printers, scanners and keyboards, as well as cell phones, fax machines, copiers and televisions.
Only household-generated products from Wayne County residents will be accepted.
Items that will not be accepted include commercial or industrial waste; radioactive material; explosives; ammunition; 55-gallon drums; shock-sensitive materials; household trash; refrigerators, microwaves or other appliances; tires; yard waste and concrete.
