DEARBORN — Howe-Peterson Funeral Home will offer free, nondenominational grief support groups in April. All groups meet at Hope Lutheran Church, 3640 Madison at Carlysle in Dearborn.
Helping Hands is for children ages 5 to 12 who have lost a loved one. Participants can communicate feelings and learn coping skills through creation of artwork, storytelling and group exercises. The group meets for seven Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning April 7.
Teen Connection is for people ages 13 to 17 to work through their greif in a secure atmosphere. The group meets simultaneously with the adult group, Journey Through Grief, for six Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning April 14. In their meeting, adults can share memories and work through the physical and emotional sides of grief.
“We are dedicated to providing a place where the healing can begin; where everyone in the community will find the support they need when they need it most,” said Howe-Peterson president Kerrie Peterson. “Our professinally facilitated groups reach out to the entire family, from children and teens to adults.”
