Pot luck fundraiser to benefit alliance

March 17, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

LINCOLN PARK –  The Lincoln Park Preservation Alliance will hold a pot luck fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. March 27 at Ikaros Hall, 1677 Fort Street.

A door donation of $10 is requested, but will be reduced to $5 for those who bring a dish to pass.  Beverages will be provided.

Organizers promise food, fun and good conversation, with funds raised going to alliance projects. Among them are restoring the Mellus Newspapers building, creating a tourism brochure on the Lincoln Park life of automotive pioneer Preston Tucker and establishing a North Fort Street National Register of Historic Places historic district so that qualified businesses will be eligible for the 20 percent Federal Tax Credit.

The LPPA is working to ensure that Fort Street’s historic buildings are saved, restored and utilized for new uses in an effort to help create jobs.
