TAYLOR — Police are investigating the carjacking and attempted kidnapping of an 86-year-old woman about 12:30 p.m. last Sunday near Southland Center.
A man approached the woman as she attempted to get into her white 2008 Mercury Milan after shopping. Police said he struck her in the back of the head with a chrome pistol and told her to move over because she was going with him.
The woman tried to get out through the passenger door and struggled with the man before finally exiting the car and falling on the ground.
The carjacker then backed up quickly, forcing her to move out of the way to avoid being run over, and left the scene. The woman was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries, receiving several staples to the back of her head.
The carjacker is described as a white man 35 to 45 years old, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. He has a thin build, dark brown hair 2 to 3 inches long and slightly receding and a dirty or dark skin color with a weathered look.
He was wearing a hooded-type sweatshirt/jacket and a hoop earring in his left ear. He also was wearing a denim jacket, blue jeans with a pair of brown gloves in the back pocket and dark shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (734) 287-6611 or (734) 374-1419.
