TAYLOR — Mayor Cameron Priebe will deliver his State of the City Address during a regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Taylor on Thursday at Lakes of Taylor Golf Club, 25505 North Line Road.
Proceeds from tickets sold to the event will help fund the mayor’s scholarship program for graduating Taylor students. Registration begins at 11:30, followed by lunch promptly at noon and the address.
The address will be the third of its kind for Priebe since he returned to office in November 2005. He served as mayor from 1981 to February 1999 before working nine years as Wayne County director of public services and being elected mayor once again in 2005.
The 2009 address will highlight many aspects of the community, including its financial status, some new initiatives and the administration’s plans for the future.
Lunch tickets cost $30 each and can be purchased can be purchased at the following National City Bank locations: 22111 Ecorse Road, 24121 Goddard Road and 25850 Eureka Road. Checks should be made payable to Taylor Rotary.
Each year, funds raised by the event are donated to a charitable organization. This year, the proceeds will benefit the Cameron G. Priebe Scholarship Fund. The $1,000 annual scholarship is available to graduating seniors of both John F. Kennedy and Harry S. Truman high schools.
The selected recipients must have indicated an interest in pursuing a college education in environmental science, criminal justice or journalism/communications.
