DEARBORN — The Dearborn Youth Symphony will hold auditions from 5-9 p.m. May 11 and 18, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

To schedule an audition, call (313) 943-2354, ext. 5538, or send an e-mail to [email protected] Include the student’s and parent’s names, phone number, student’s school and grade, instrument and the number of years studying the instrument.

The DYS, sponsored by the city’s Recreation Department, was formed in 1975 to provide young performers with symphonic ensemble experience and to foster interest in instrumental music. Since that time, the DYS has become an integral step to greater musical achievement for many young musicians in the area.

The DYS rehearses at the Ford Center on Monday evenings. Membership includes students from ages 8 to 20 years old from more than 25 communities in southeast Michigan. The DYS has two orchestras and a flute choir.
