Prayer day observance set

May 5, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — For the 11th straight year, the city’s clergy and others will come together to pray on a nationally recognized day of prayer.

The hour-long National Day of Prayer observance starts at noon Thursday in Cameron G. Priebe Plaza, just east of City Hall, 23555 Goddard Road. This year’s theme is “Prayer… America’s Hope.”

The Rev. Philip Nissley, pastor of New Hope Assembly of God and the area coordinator of National Day of Prayer, said there will be prayers for the city, its residents, their intentions and other local and national issues.

About a dozen members of the clergy will be joined by representatives of city government, the Police Department, the Taylor School District and the business community.

The public is invited; chairs will be provided.
