Animal group event set for early fall

July 29, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

RIVERVIEW — The Precious Animal Welfare Society, better knows as P.A.W.S., will hold PAWS in the Park, starting at 11 a.m, Sept. 19 at Young Patriots Park.
Group members Eve Howell and Kris Jordan thanked the City Council on Monday for sponsoring the event, which will include a dog walk, disc jockey, contests, event T-shirt, food, “Ask the Vet,” low-cost pet microchips, raffles and a children’s area. The early entry fee (until Sept. 14) is $20 and includes a “doggy bag” and event T-shirt.
Proceeds go to support P.A.W.S. initiatives. They have established a pet food bank program, and hope to open a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in the Downriver area.
