SOUTHGATE – Police are looking for a man believed to have robbed two women late Monday in the parking lot of the Village on the Park apartment complex, 13330 Village Park Drive near North Line Road.
The women, one of whom had just moved into the complex that day, were outside talking to some friends near the building’s east entrance about 10:30 p.m. When the friends went inside, a man carrying a large sliver semiautomatic pistol came walking toward the two women from the north.
They said he then yelled at them to turn around and demanded their purses, placing the gun to the back of one woman’s head in the process.
He then fled scene; neither woman was injured. One said he went north toward the building, the other said he headed east.
Police describe the suspect as black, in his early 20s and about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a black baseball cap.
One of the purses contained several credit cards and $60 cash. One of the cards was used at a Detroit store; a debit card was used to by gas at a Detroit station.
The other purse contained a black iPod in a pink case valued at $400, as well as 10 credit cards.
Anyone with more information on the incident or the man’s whereabouts is asked to call the Detective Bureau at (734) 258-3057.
