Car stolen out of dealer garage
A 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer was stolen by two men posing as car buyers from a service garage at Superior Nissan, 15101 Michigan, about 5:30 p.m. July 15.
A sales representative told police he showed the men the vehicle, turned on the engine for them and then left them alone while he took the key back to the front desk. When he returned, the vehicle was gone.
The sales representative said the key he had was the only one at the dealership, but added that the vehicle was a recent lease turn-in.
Family sleeps, burglar strikes
A burglar stole a 40-inch flat screen TV and laptop computer from a house in the 7500 block of Ternes July 16 while a mother and her two children lay asleep inside.
The husband called police when he arrived home and found the door ajar at 4:30 a.m. Neither the mother nor the couple’s children reported hearing anything or waking up during the incident.

Woman beaten in attempted rape
A 21-year-old woman was the victim of an attempted rape while she was walking along Telegraph between Pennie and Powers about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The woman told police she was walking home from Walgreens when a man grabbed her from behind and put his hand over her mouth. While he threatening kill her if she wasn’t quiet, the assailant dragged her about 20 feet to a patch of trees and shrubs, she said.
He then threw her to the ground, mounted her and attempted to take her pants off while punching her multiple times in the face. Finally, she screamed loudly enough to scare off the would-be rapist, who fled on foot south on Telegraph.
The woman was taken to Oakwood Heritage Hospital in Taylor, where she received stitches for a cut suffered in the beating. Doctors reportedly also were seeking she undergo scans to determine if any brain damage was suffered.
Curses scraped into Corvette
An expletive statement was scratched into the paint of a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette parked in a driveway in the 300 block of Kinmore about 7:45 p.m. July 26.
