LINCOLN PARK — Police are seeking a man who robbed the Chase Bank branch at 2041 Fort St. near Southfield Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded at 4:30 p.m. to a holdup alarm at the bank, which employees said had just been robbed by a suspect who had fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
The robber had shown the teller a note demanding the money; the note has been sent to the Michigan State Police crime laboratory in an effort to glean fingerprints.
Lincoln Park police say the bank’s surveillance system got decent pictures of the man, who is described as a short, stocky black male in his 30s. He was clean cut and wore a goatee, a dark shirt, white Nike shoes, long blue jean shorts, a black baseball hat and was carrying a white bag.
No one was hurt, police said, adding that two of the witnesses said the robber even held the door open for them to enter.
Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call Lincoln Park police at (313) 381-1800.
