Ruby is an energetic 9-month-old Great Dane, pit bull, terrier-mix puppy who was eager to bound about on her leash when shelter volunteer Mary Gregory took her outside for her photo opportunity. Early in her life Ruby spent a lot of time in a crate in a basement with little socialization. She will need a lot of patient love and training, but Wyandotte Pound staff members say she is worth the effort. Ruby loves attention and would be well suited for a family with older children and lots of room to run around. Ruby has been at Wyandotte since May, and is learning to listen, although she does love to be the center of attention. Dog adoption fees are $85 (in cash) and include spaying or neutering, first distemper vaccine and a rabies vaccine and heartworm test if the animal is old enough. The Wyandotte Pound is at 1170 Grove, between 11th and 13th streets. Adoption hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
