Free, paid senior exercise classes offered

HEIGHTS — Registration is ongoing for two upcoming free Zumba classes.

     The sessions, offered by Elements of Exercise and the Parks and Recreation Department, will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Canfield Community Center, 1801 N. Beech Daly, and at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center, 5400 McKinley.

     Ten-week sessions at Canfield run from 6 to 7 p.m. Fridays from Sept. 25 through Dec. 4 (except for Nov. 27).

     Ten-week sessions at Young run from 6 to 7 p.m. Fridays from Sept. 25 through Dec. 4 (except for Nov. 27).

     Cost of the 10-week sessions is $56 for one day per week and $96 for two days per week. Drop-in classes are $10 per session.

     Its creators call Zumba “a fusion of Latin and international music and dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective and fun fitness system.”

     The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

     Participants must be age 12 or older and are advised to bring a bottle of water and a towel.
