Dearborn Youth Symphony holds auditions on Sept. 10

August 29, 2009 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN — The Dearborn Youth Symphony, sponsored by the Recreation Department, will hold auditions from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

To schedule an audition, call (313) 943-2354, ext. 5538, or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Include the names of the young person auditioning and his or her parents, phone number, school and grade, instrument and the number of years studying it.

The Dearborn Youth Symphony was formed in 1975 to provide young performers with symphonic ensemble experience and to foster interest in instrumental music. Since that time, it has become an integral step to greater musical achievement for many young musicians in the area.

The group rehearses at the Ford Center on Monday evenings beginning Sept. 14. Membership includes musicians from ages 8 to 21 years old, from over 25 communities in southeast Michigan.
