DEARBORN – The Recreation Department Cultural Arts Division has announced its lineup of cultural arts classes for the fall.
All classes are offered at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

MUSIC
The Dearborn Community Chorus welcomes anyone age 16 and older who loves to sing. The group rehearses weekly from September through May and presents two major performances at the Ford Center.
Vanguard Voices is a 65-voice adult mixed choir sponsored by the Dearborn Recreation Department and is choir-in-residence at Henry Ford Community College. Its artistic director is G. Kevin Dewey.
Those interested in becoming part of Vanguard Voices must audition. Weekly three-hour rehearsals prepare the group for a season of concerts.
The Dearborn Youth Symphony provides young performers with symphonic ensemble experience. Auditions are from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the center. To schedule an audition, call (313) 943-2354, extension 5538, or send an e-mail to [email protected].
Include the names of the person auditioning and his or her parents, phone number, school and grade, instrument and the number of years studying it.
THEATER
The Dearborn theater program offers acting classes for all ages: Preschool Playhouse, youth theater classes, teen acting workshops and adult acting classes taught by some of metropolitan Detroit’s best theatrical talent.
In addition to acting classes, performance opportunities throughout the year are offered: Missoula Children’s Theatre, Dearborn Recreation’s Radius Theatre Project, Kiddie Kafe and the Dearborn Summer Theatre Festival.
DANCE
The Dearborn Recreation offers a dance program for those interested in expression through movement. For ages 3 through adult, class offerings include ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and ball room dancing.
New classes this season feature Modern, Theatre Dance, Hawaiian and Boy’s Hip Hop styles of dance.
