A firefighter works to make sure all hotspots are extinguished at this house fire in the 15100 block of Colson last week. Investigators said the fire started after the homeowner attempted to ward off a colony of wasps in his roof by using a blowtorch. Although the homeowner thought he extinguished the fire using a garden hose, five hours later it had re-ignited and claimed much of roof structure before it was finally put out. “Always call the fire department no matter if you think a fire is our or not. That’s what we’re here for,” said fire inspector Laura Ridenour.
