Dearborn to Host Wayne County Artists’ Exhibition

DEARBORN – The work of more than 30 Wayne County artists will be displayed in Padzieski Art Gallery’s mixed media exhibition “Artists ARE Among Us 2009.”

The exhibition will run Thursday through Sept. 17 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

Sponsored by the Wayne County Council for Arts, History & Humanities (WCCAHH), the public is invited to the exhibit’s opening at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Participating juried artists include: S. Rene Andrus, Sandy Askew, Janus Benda, Angela Carter, Amy Caverne, Sheri M. Chaffee, Gary A. Cole, Lily M. Dudgeon, Kim Ensch, Mike Henterling, Virginia Horvath, Marcus Ingram, Ron Jacek, Frank Joyce, Jane Kovach, Marty Lamontagne, Katrina Lopez, Teresa Lousias, Tim Marsh, Barbara Eko Murphy, Olga Pawlowski, Jeanne Poulet, Pat Schlaufman, Joseph M. Siler, Robert Stewart, Lou Terry, Valerie K. Truax, Donald Van Kirk, Alanna Williams, Karen J. Wisniewski and Richard Yandura.

The artists represent the communities of Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Redford, Livonia, Detroit, Belleville, Grosse Pointe, Northville, Van Buren Township and Woodhaven.

Funding for the exhibit has been provided by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Detroit Recreation Department. WCCAHH, an all-volunteer organization, provides support and opportunities to highlight and enhance the cultural life of Wayne County.

The Padzieski Art Gallery is open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays. For more gallery information, call (313) 934-3095.
