DEARBORN – The cultural contributions of 11 individuals and organizations to greater Wayne County will be recognized during the 12th Annual Wayne County Council for Arts, History & Humanities (WCCAHH) Recognition Awards.
The program will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Studio A of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. The public is invited to attend the event and reception, which will showcase the opening of the Padzieski Art Gallery’s, “Artists Among Us 2009” juried exhibition. The 2009 Recognition Award Honorees, selected through a nomination process, include: Diane Eissinger of Belleville (International Award), Leif & Patti Lorenz/Ballet Americana of Allen Park (Artist/Performer Award), DTE Energy Foundation/Karla Hall of Detroit (Patron Award), Ernest Rodgers of Detroit (Arts Educator Award), Kenseye Ford of Detroit (Young Artist Award), Gillian Eaton of Plymouth (Humanities Award), Laurie A. Gomulka Palazzolo – Detroit Polish American Historical Society of Detroit (History Award), Doug Scott of Grosse Ile (Volunteer Award), City of Wyandotte/Art Center Project (County Executive Award), David DiChiera/Michigan Opera Theater of Detroit (County Commissioner’s Award), and EmmaJean Woodyard of Dearborn (Wayne County Council Award).
Nominations are accepted year round through forms available on line at www.waynecoarts.org. Funding for the 2009 Recognition Awards program was provided by Rosalind Meyer. WCCAHH, an all volunteer organization, is dedicated to providing support and opportunities to highlight and enhance the cultural life of Wayne County.
