DPW Employee of the Year Dave Ilich is congratulated by Water Department Director and City Engineer Craig Lyon (left) and Taylor Mayor Cameron Priebe.
TAYLOR — Dave Ilich, who has worked for the city for the last decade, has been named 2009 Department of Public Works Employee of the Year.
Ilich, a lifelong resident of the city, was honored recently by its elected officials during a recent City Council meeting. He was praised for his “extremely high professional standards and dedicated service” in the performance of his duties and responsibilities.
Ilich was hired in April 1999 as a temporary laborer and in May 2000 as a permanent laborer. He has worked as a mechanic and sign truck operator, assisted on water main breaks and performed snow removal, just to name a few of his duties.
Recently, Ilich was assigned to the cement crew, where department officials say he has excelled greatly and has become a major asset to the division.
In addition to a proclamation signed by Taylor officials, Ilich also received a proclamation from state Rep. Douglas Geiss of Taylor.
