ALLEN PARK – A Community Shred Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the community center, 15800 White St., to help city residents avoid identity theft and safely dispose of sensitive documents.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department, along with Rivers Edge Community Credit Union and Cintas, suggest that no-longer-needed bank statements, canceled checks, tax returns, medical records, credit card receipts and insurance records be shredded.
The event is for city residents with identification only. A household may bring one standard recycling bin full of material to be shredded.
During the shred day event, Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry of Taylor will be collecting nonperishable food donations to help combat hunger among local families in need.
