The late Margaret “Peg” Watson was honored by Mayor John B. O’Reilly, family members and colleagues on Oct. 15 when 10 outdoor exercise stations were dedicated in her name at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. Made possible through a grant from the Dearborn Commission on Disability Concerns, the exercise stations are accessible for all, including people who use wheelchairs and seniors with limited mobility. Watson, who was director of Senior Services until her retirement in 2005, always encouraged older people to stay active and embrace life. She advocated for the installation of these stations before her passing in 2006. Shown here during the dedication ceremony are (from left) Jakleen Ochalek, representing Wayne County; Watson’s nieces, Marilynn Rowe, Madelyn McCarthy and Gwen Gage; Mayor O’Reilly; City Council President Pro Tem Nancy Hubbard and Councilman George Darany.
