Spencer is a loveable black cat who likes to be hugged. The playful 4-year-old has been at the Wyandotte Animal Pound for a couple of months. He originally was an adopted stray, but when his owners divorced, they reluctantly returned him to the shelter. His owners said he was a perfect cat – they just couldn’t keep him anymore when their circumstances changed. Cat adoption fees are $60 cash and include spaying or neutering, the first distemper vaccine, a combo test and a rabies vaccine if the animal is old enough. Cat adopters should bring a carrier. Cardboard box carriers can be purchased from the shelter for $5. The pound is at 1170 Grove, between 11th and 13th streets. Adoption hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
