WYANDOTTE – Leo Stevenson, a vice president with Merrill Lynch, 3217 Biddle, will fill a vacancy on the Downtown Development Authority left by Tony Trupiano.

The City Council appointed Stevenson on Monday. Trupiano recently resigned from the authority following the closing of his downtown business, Good Eats Cafe and Grill. Trupiano was appointed by Mayor Joseph Peterson’s predecessor, then mayor and now Councilman James DeSana.

“It is my greatest hope that the DDA will discover through their vision a new path to assist the City Council in moving Wyandotte to a renewed prosperity,” Trupiano said. “Wyandotte has been a rewarding place to grow, and the unique makeup of this great community needs the type of leadership you and the DDA can provide.

“I will miss the challenge and hold great hope that the (Michigan) Main Street program (see related story) can be a critical component in making these advancements possible.”
