DEARBORN – Due to the Christmas holiday, the Department of Public Works yard will not be open Saturday for the scheduled trash drop-off event.
The next trash drop-off date will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 16, and every third Saturday in 2010.
Non-hazardous items that are not accepted by curbside trash collection can be dropped off for free during these events.
Only Dearborn residents are eligible to take part; non-residents and contractors working in the city cannot take part. Proof of Dearborn residency will be required.
The yard will accept furniture and other non-hazardous household materials such as dirt, sod, sand, concrete and bricks; firewood, logs and stumps; and bathtubs, laundry tubs, sinks and toilets.
Hazardous materials are not acceptable for either curbside disposal or for disposal at the DPW Yard, 2951 Greenfield. To check if materials are acceptable for disposal, call the DPW at (313) 943-2085.
