DEARBORN – The Police Department officially swore-in its newest officer, Robert Smith Jr., during a ceremony held Dec. 15 at the police station.
Smith, 31, grew up in eastern Ohio where he attended Indian Valley High School. He later moved to Michigan, beginning his collegiate studies at Monroe County Community College before transferring to the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he earned a bachelor’s in business administration.
He has also earned a juris doctor from the University of Toledo.
While attending law school, Smith served as a law clerk to 38th Circuit Chief Judge Joseph Costello and served as an intern with the Monroe County prosecutor’s office. He subsequently took and passed the Michigan Bar exam.
