ALLEN PARK – Three residential burglaries less than a half mile apart were reported late Dec. 25 while the residents were away.
Nearly $4,000 worth of personal electronic entertainment equipment and $200 cash were taken from a house in the 9800 block of Hubert between 4:20 and 7:20 pm Dec. 25. A 52-inch television valued at $2,300 was taken, as were electronic game consoles valued at $800, a $400 TV/DVD unit and a $400 digital camera.
A rear window was broken to gain entry. Investigators were able to lift a possible partial suspect prints from the scene.
More than $6,000 in jewelry, watches and a digital camera were taken from a house in the 15000 block of Pennsylvania. Gold and silver watches, gold jewelry and a digital camera were taken.
The resident was gone from 3:45 to 10:25 p.m. and called police upon returning and noticing muddy shoe prints throughout the house and a bedroom light on. Officers found the back gate and back door open and a broken bedroom window with the screen ripped out. A shoe print in the mud outside the house matched those found inside.
The back bedroom was ransacked. Investigators found no fingerprints or witnesses.
The third house, in the 10000 block of Colwell, netted a $100 necklace. The family was gone from the house from 4 to 6:45 p.m., but the necklace was not discovered missing until about 10 p.m. The homeowner then discovered that windows had been pushed up and left open in both rear-facing bedrooms.
