Kennedy band selling discount cards to raise funds

January 23, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — Members and boosters of the John F. Kennedy High School Band are raising funds by selling discount cards that can be used at 19 city businesses.

The discounts are good for restaurants, pizza, doughnuts, ice cream, bowling, video rentals, sporting goods, oil changes, haircuts and more.

“The unique thing about this card is that they’re all Taylor businesses,” said Charley Johnson, a member of the band boosters. “We appreciate the participation of local merchants. It’s all about helping the kids and helping the businesses at the same time.”

The discount cards cost $5 each and can be obtained by talking to a Kennedy band member, visiting the William D. Ford Senior Activity Center at 6750 Troy or calling Johnson at (313) 304-2173.
