Mayor John O’Reilly Jr. presented Dearborn resident Debbie Malyn with an award from the American Cancer Society for her outstanding efforts to prevent and fight cancer through the Relay For Life program. Malyn has been a longtime coordinator and volunteer with the event and was instrumental in bringing the Cancer Prevention Study 3 to Dearborn in 2009. The CPS-3 is a comprehensive, long term research project that follows healthy people for decades to help determine the factors that can lead to, or prevent, cancer. The mayor presented the award during the 2010 kickoff rally at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. The Dearborn Relay For Life begins at 10 a.m. May 1 and lasts until 10 a.m. May 2, outside of the center.
