March 13, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

No household hazardous wastes accepted in Dearborn

DEARBORN – The Department of Public Works yard will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for residents to dispose of furniture and other household materials that normally would require a special fee for curbside pickup.

Other items accepted at the DPW Yard on the designated day are dirt, sod, sand, concrete and bricks; firewood, logs and stumps; and bathtubs, sinks and toilets.

Items not accepted are fuel, tires, ammunition, refrigerators, microwaves or other appliances.

Hazardous materials are not acceptable at the DPW yard or at the curbside.

Free disposal days are the third Saturday of each month.

The remaining 2010 dates are: April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, Aug. 21, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.

The yard is at 2951 Greenfield.

For questions about curbside recycling and yard waste pickup in Dearborn, or to check if materials are acceptable for disposal, call DPW at 943-2085.
