TAYLOR — The Police Department will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the former main fire station at 11101 Pine St., just south of City Hall.
Appointments can be made online through the Red Cross electronic scheduling system at www.redcrossblood.org, sponsor code TaylorPD, or by calling donor recruitment representative Kim Beasley at (313) 549-7042.
Walk-ins also are accepted.
Beasley said all presenting donors will receive a coupon book and will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 McDonald’s Arch Card donated by the Granader family McDonald’s restaurants.
The blood drive is part of the American Red Cross’s annual “blood battle of the cities” event, featuring competition between 13 Wayne County locations. Last year, Riverview and Wyandotte won trophies for collecting the most pints of blood for their population levels.
The Police Department has received platinum sponsor recognition from the Red Cross for its extensive efforts in organizing blood drives.
