DEARBORN – The Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council is accepting nominations for the 2010 -11 Veteran of the Year award.
Nomination forms are available at the Department of Public Information in City Hall, 13615 Michigan Ave., or online at www.cityofdearborn.org under the Government tab, then Public Information, then Veterans Services.
Completed forms should be returned to the department by Sept. 28.
The award is presented each Veterans Day to the resident veteran judged to have made a significant contribution to the community, and to the interests of veterans.
The following criteria apply to all nominations:
• The nominee must live in the city of Dearborn.
• Those eligible to make nominations are residents or Dearborn veterans’ organizations.
• The nominee’s community service work, and work on behalf of veterans’ organizations, must have been done only on a volunteer basis.
• Nomination materials must contain proof of military service.
The award will be presented during the city’s Veterans Day ceremony, which will take place at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
