Tasters: Downtown east Dearborn is ‘awake again’

September 18, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

Something was happening on the streets of downtown east Dearborn last Wednesday that hasn’t been seen in what seems like decades. A reported 100 people descended upon the area and walked the streets for the inaugural Taste of East Dearborn run by the East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority.

Groups of people ventured from restaurant to restaurant in the district all evening long, sampling the cuisine offered up by establishments old and new.

One participant summed things up with a simple observation: “East Dearborn is awake again.”

We congratulate the EDDDA and hope this is the beginning of many events which can bring the vibrance back to east downtown to the level it once enjoyed.
