SOUTHGATE — MJR Southgate Digital Cinema 20 will take part in the Canned Film Festival Nov. 11 to help feed the area’s hungry.
People who take at least five cans of food to the theater will get free admission to any movie that day between 4 and 10 p.m.
Co-sponsors of the event are WDVD-FM 96.3 and WDRQ-FM 93.1. WDVD’s morning show, Blaine and Allyson in the Morning will broadcast live from the theater from 4 to 8 p.m.
All canned food donated during the event will be collected and distributed by Gleaners Food Bank to food providers in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties.
Kroger has issued a challenge to the public: for every Kroger brand canned good donated, Kroger will match the donations up to $1,000.
MJR Southgate Digital Cinema 20 is at 15651 Trenton Road.
More than 8,000 people contributed 45,000 of food during last year’s event at five southeast Michigan MJR locations.
