City announces participation in county’s new alert system

November 13, 2010 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

LINCOLN PARK — Residents now can sign up to get emergency notifications to their cell phones, home phones and e-mail.

The Emergency Notification System, also known as Reverse 911 service, will communicate an emergency alert notification to those who sign up for the service.

The ENS system will be used in conjunction with information sent to local media, Lincoln Park Television (the city’s local access cable television channel) and the city’s Website, www.citylp.com.

Officials say it is also important for residents not to rely solely on the ENS notifications as their means of emergency information, but to utilize all communication outlets.

Residents interested in signing up for the service can go online to https://wayne.getalerts.org/default.asp and follow what officials say is a simple and secure registration process.
