MELVINDALE —The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that plea deals are being negotiated for two 16-year-olds accused along with a 17-year old of raping a 14-year old girl.
A docket conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 22 for 17-year-old Trevon Hampton following an arraignment at Frank Murphy Hall of Justice in Detroit before Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Margie Braxton last Monday.
Detroit resident Hampton is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with the girl early Oct. 3 at post-homecoming party at Comfort Inn and Suites, 17600 Dix.
The felony charge carries a possible sentence of 15 years.
The girl told the court on Oct. 23 that she was under the influence of alcohol at the time and had no memory of the sexual assault. However her friend, Walter Williams, 17, testified that he walked in on her twice while she was having sex with two 16-year-old boys who are charged with two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
County prosecutors have confirmed that plea deals are ongoing for the two juveniles. A pretrial hearing scheduled for them Thursday was adjourned to allow for discussions of the possible plea deal.
County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maria Miller declined to discuss specifics about the plea deals.
“In court there was an indication that there would be a discussion about plea negotiations,” she said, “but there is nothing substantive that I can reveal.”
Williams said he checked on the girl a second time and saw Hampton standing near the bed with his pants down to his knees. Williams said the girl was awake during the acts.
Warrants still are pending for two mothers who rented the hotel room and three people ages 17 to 20 who purchased alcohol for the party.
