DEARBORN – The man responsible for the death of 18-year-old Mohamad Abboud and stabbing three other men was sentenced to five years probation last week.
Oak Park resident Alexander “Tom” Yono, 30, pleaded guilty and was sentenced Nov. 22 by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Daniel Ryan. The first year is to be served in the Wayne County Jail and Yono will also have to pay restitution to Abboud’s family for funeral expenses.
The incident occurred about 2:15 a.m. July 13 at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center, 14900 Ford Road, when Yono, Abboud and others returned from a birthday celebration in a limousine and a large fight occurred. The DISC parking lot served as the central pickup and drop-off point for the group’s evening.
Witnesses told police Yono had been aggressive for much of the night and stabbed Abboud, two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy when they returned to the DISC. He was charged with second-degree murder, felonious assault and three counts of assault with intent to murder. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and felonious assault.
