HFCC to host National Poetry Slam Champion

March 12, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN — The Henry Ford Community College Council of World Cultures and Michigan Ave., the college’s literary and arts journal, will sponsor a performance by National Poetry Slam champion Blair Monday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. March 28.

The event will take place in room L-14 of the Liberal Arts Building and is free and open the the public.

Blair will perform poems from his new book, “Moonwalking.” Organizers say his “gorgeous, sometimes gritty, gravity-defying poems” spin out from the life of Michael Jackson. They also say Monday is a spectacular performer whose words, voice and body will take audience members from Motown to the moon, from Gary to Bahrain.

For more information call the Student Activities Office at (313) 845-9865.
