Get Fit for Change hosts walk, activity day

DETROIT — Get Fit for Change will host its 5K Walk for Childhood Obesity April 30 beginning at the DoubleTree Hotel, 5801 Southfield.

The walk is to raise money for Full and Fabulous Inc. International, which provides educational and emotional support programs for plus size women and teens in metropolitan Detroit, and the National Association of Full-Figured teen summer weight loss camp.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk steps off at 9 a.m. The cost to participate is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 and under.

Walk registration is available online at www.fullandfabulous.org.

The walk also marks the start of a series of community events sponsored by Get Fit for Change. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.May 7, the organization will host an activity day that includes a Wii fit station, Zumba classes, yoga, healthy cooking demonstrations, massages, makeup lessons, health screenings and a speaker from Henry Ford Health System. Cost for the day is $8.
