DHMC begins summer enrollment

April 16, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

HEIGHTS – The Dearborn Heights Montessori Center is accepting applications for its summer camp program.

From June 20 to Aug. 19, DHMC offers nine weeks of educational and culturally rich programs on its campus at 466 N. John Daly.

Half- and full-day programs are available for toddler, preschool/kindergarten and elementary children. Camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with hours available before and after camp for families needing extra hours. The building opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. The program is open to the public and available to all children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years old.

Each week campers participate in a different science or geography theme with indoor and outdoor activities. Weekly programs also include math and language, physical education, art and technology.

Summer campers will receive a water day each week, in-house presentations and offsite field trips for children in elementary grades. The summer camp programs are led by Montessori-certified DHMC teachers.

“Our summer program is designed to nurture the love of learning in a safe, fun environment,” said Heidi Gauger, summer program director. “Our campers enjoy making new friends and creating lifelong memories.”

DHMC accepts part-summer enrollments to accommodate families’ work and vacation schedules. Early enrollment is recommended to ensure availability.
