Fatal shooting victim collapses in restaurant

April 30, 2011 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

LINCOLN PARK — A 32-year-old southwest Detroit man died early last Sunday after being shot near White Castle, 2115 Fort St.

Adrian Deshaun Bell entered the restaurant about 12:46 a.m. and asked for help, saying he had been shot.

When police and a U.S. Border Patrol agent arrived, a man directed them to the victim and said the shooting did not take place on the site. Bell was lying unconscious on the floor in front of the cash register, and police secured the restaurant allowing firefighters to begin administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Police found a cell phone lying in the parking lot broken into three pieces and took it into evidence. Bell then was transported to Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center; shortly afterward he succumbed to his injuries, two gunshots to the chest.

Witnesses said the victim had been in an argument with acquaintances earlier that night and very likely knew his shooter.

Detectives are actively following up leads from witnesses. Anyone who believes they have information on the case can call Detective Sgt. Stewart Howell at (313) 381-1800, Ext. 233.
