A 34-year-old Lincoln Park resident faces life in prison if convicted of the April shooting death of Adrian Deshaun Bell in a parking lot on Fort Street.
At a May 25 arraignment before 25th District Court Judge David Bajorek, Shannon Maurice Henderson was charged with first-degree murder, a felony carrying mandatory life imprisonment. Henderson faces additional charges of felony use of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm, both two-year penalties. Henderson is also charged as a four-time habitual offender.
A preliminary examination is set for Tuesday. Henderson was denied bond last week and remains in custody.
Bell died of two gunshots to the chest on April 24 after being injured in a parking lot. He stumbled into White Castle, 2115 Fort St. and asked for help. Police and a U.S. Border Patrol agent arrived, and secured the area while firefighters attempted to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Bell was transported to Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center in Dearborn, where he soon died due to the injuries.
Henderson was arrested last week in Melvindale.
