HEIGHTS – The body of a 38-year-old Taylor man was found about 8:40 p.m. June 21.
The body was hanging from a bridge on a stretch of Telegraph spanning the Rouge River, between Ann Arbor Trail and Warren.
According to the police report, officers responded to the area after a man who lives nearby discovered the body while walking in a nearby park. The man, who asked not to be named, said that he ran up the hill, yelling if someone had a phone. He declined to go into detail about what he saw, only saying that “it was like what you see in the movies.”
“It’s sad that the guy had to go out that way,” the man said. “The image will be stuck in my mind for a long time.”
It appeared that the man had been pacing the area for a while, and that he could have been wandering back and forth. Located nearby were a few of the man’s personal belongings, including 20 cents.
The bridge was between 12 and 15 feet above the river.
The man who found the body said that he wished there could have been a different outcome.
“It’s disappointing that people have to go through that,” he said. “But life is more important.”
