Police: Missing girl left on her own

WYANDOTTE – No Amber Alert has been issued for a missing 15-year old girl, police say.

Despite published reports to the contrary, Police Chief Daniel Grant said Tuesday that the department has not issued such an alert for Allyson Haystead, who is believed to be with her mother, who lives in Manchester, N.H.

“If someone says we did (issue an Amber Alert), they’ve got bad information,” Grant said. “Those are usually restricted to cases involving foul play. We feel strongly that it’s her own intentions to get out of the area.”

Haystead was reported missing by her father May 23. He recently had been granted full custody of her and she had been living with him in Wyandotte for more than a month but had noted various times on her social networking pages that she wanted to return to live with her mother, Grant said.

He said the mother has been “evasive” and attempts to contact her have been fruitless.

Grant said there is evidence that Haystead has run away before.

Haystead is a white female, 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 110 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair.

Grant said anyone with information about the case should contact the Wyandotte Police Department at (734) 324-4405.
