The severe thunderstorms which struck metropolitan Detroit July 11 hit Dearborn especially hard. No injuries were reported, but the strong winds left about 4,500 residents in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights without power. In front of the Dearborn Housing Department, 1515 Mason, residents who live in the complex and in the surrounding houses came out to look at a fallen tree that destroyed the sidewalk and fell on a Nissan Pathfinder, and narrowly missed hitting the housing complex.
