DEARBORN – The closure of Military Street over the Rouge River due to nearby combined sewer overflow work will begin Monday and last through Aug. 22.
Military will remain open for local traffic only, but residents will have to continue to use Outer Drive as a detour.
Southbound traffic will be rerouted south on Outer Drive to eastbound Michigan Avenue. Northbound traffic will be redirected west on Michigan Avenue and north on Outer Drive.
Detour signs will be posted.
The project, overseen by Ric-Man Construction Inc., based in Sterling Heights, began July 25.
Workers are tying an 8-inch water main into a 12-inch main on the east side of Military. After tying the mains, the company will backfill the trench, take out all the old concrete and refill all the proposed areas. The weekend will allow for the concrete to dry, according to a statement by the company.
