During the opening reception Aug. 10 for the 22nd Annual Asian American Journalists Convention at Adonis Restaurant and Night Club, 4853 Schaefer Rd., Osama Siblani (left), publisher of Dearborn-based The Arab American News, presents a plaque to convention Co-Chairman Frank Witsil (right), recognizing Witsil’s contributions to the convention. Dearborn was chosen over New York to host the event, attended by more than 500 journalists from across the United States. The convention also included panel discussions on immigration and skills training for journalists, as well as tours around the area and a screening of the 1987 documentary “Who Killed Vincent Chin?” at the Detroit Renaissance Center.
